Capri Restaurant

Head down to Freo to eat and you're always spoiled for choice.

Endless famous, outstanding, swish restaurants on every street but I tried something different.

Tucked away inconspicuously on South Terrace is the Capri Restaurant. As the name implies it's Italian cuisine but it's not just some old pizza and pasta place. This is real Italian food cooked just as Italians love it.

Believe me I know, I lived in Italy for seven years and I've eaten across Italy from Sicily to Milan.

The Capri serves excellent fish, meat and pasta meals in an authentic Italian tratoria setting - small, busy and far from posh.

The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable and much less than you'll pay for inferior fare in the CBD.

This is a no frills restaurant that never disappoints. Free bread served with every meal and every person that orders a main meal gets a bowl of minestrone or whatever the soup of the day is.

I probably ate there for the first time over 20 years ago and try to have a family dinner there every year.
