So you are out and about looking for a good place to have a coffee, but where to go? What kind of atmosphere do you like? Do you like sitting outside, listening to the birds chattering in the trees nearby? Do you like the feeling of relaxing, almost a little like being on vacation, where there is no rush even though the traffic flows by on its way to school and work?
On any given morning from Monday to Saturday you can walk by
Bar and find the regulars at their posts, drinking their morning elixir and reading papers, having lively discussions or just catching a break from their morning rides before they all carry on with the rest of the day.
There is the gentleman with the golden retriever who patiently lays there while her owner reads his paper, lingering over his morning brew.
There are the four retired gentlemen who banter about footie, the new laws, and the Olympics. Will Torah Bright have the right moves this year? And how about that curling?
Cyclists who ride by Fleming road each morning stop for a break before carrying on to their daily destinations. Hikers and walkers who have travelled to the top and back of Mt. Coot-tha stop by to have a chat.
Step inside Cap'lina and you can find Charles or Melissa behind the counter chatting with their patrons as they await their morning coffee. The lovely ladies that work for them are busy preparing everyone's orders.
Charles and his sister Melissa own and operate Cap'lina that sits in the plaza at the top of Kirkdale Road and Fleming road in Chapel Hill. Fleming road is a thoroughfare from Kenmore to Indooroopilly, Taringa and Toowong, with quite a traffic flow. If you passed by this way you may have seen their shop? Why not stop in and support your local coffee baristas and café owners?
If you are dropping kids at Chapel Hill State School, taking a short cut to work one day or just out walking in the neighborhood, come and support your local business owners. Small business is a boon for all of us, adding choices to our daily lives.
Charles believes that small businesses need to be more creative and innovative in order for them to compete with the chain stores. When small businesses create new products it can enhance a customer's experience, making them want to come back for more. With that said watch for some new changes coming to Cap'lina in the coming weeks.
Melissa and Charles have been here in Australia for seventeen years, both have had other business ventures and now they enjoy the local atmosphere in Chapel Hill. They have been here in this location for almost three years. With a change in the dynamics of the plaza they no longer serve pizza. They do sell muffins, cookies, pies and sausage rolls at this time. Their website at the moment seems to be under construction and will be up and running sometime in the future.
Why not stop by the next time you are on Fleming road and help support the local business owners at Cap'lina?
