Beautiful by day, even more so by night. If you're in Byron Bay, you should seriously consider a trip up to the lighthouse after dark. How you do it is up to you - grab a torchlight and set off from Wategos Beach below, or simply drive up to the car park. With the lighthouse shining you'll have no problem seeing where you're going once you reach the peak. Don't forget your camera!
