Op Shop devotees, news you need
If you've driven down Dollery Rd, Capalaba recently, you may have noticed that the Great Capalaba Op Shop Trifecta is -shock! - horror! - gasp! - no more, and the building is being redeveloped. Your one-stop-three-shops op shopping dream location has been thoughtlessly disbanded in the name of progress!
Endeavour is staying, and will apparently be part of the new redevelopment.
Footprints and Save the Children didn't have their leases renewed. Does this mean they have gone to Op Shop Paradise, never to be seen again? No it does not. Aunty Joy can reveal (as they say in the more colourful media) that both have relocated within Capalaba. Footprints is now at 91 Redland Bay Rd, a good big space with plenty of room and air, on the same side, and not far from, the Salvos.
Save the Children has relocated to Capalaba Central Shopping Centre, shop 43 (opposite Priceline at the Big W end). It has taken over the space recently vacated by the Red Cross Red Threads Op Shop. It's a smaller space than they previously had in Dollery Rd, so the plan is to have less stock, more carefully selected.
And where did Red Threads go, if anywhere? Sadly, Aunty Joy doesn't know. Can anyone enlighten Weekend Notes readers?
