Even lousy gardeners can be motivated by a sausage sizzle
According to the Department for Environment and Water, there are six important tasks to complete in your garden over winter in preparation for the coming warmer months. These are:

Help the rain soak in by adding nutrient-rich compost or wetting agents to the soil.
Get stuck into weed control.
Get on top of those niggling jobs like fixing fences or tidying green houses.
Tidy up your veggie patch and plant brassicas such as broccoli and Chinese vegetables and think about what to plant for next season.
Take time to prune.
Get creative and start a new garden project, like building a butterfly house or planting natives to attract birds.

For some gardening inspiration and motivation, visit Capalaba Nursery on Saturday, 1st of August, who will be holding an Open Day to celebrate their 1st Anniversary.

This day will include representatives from several gardening-centric companies, who will be available to share their knowledge and provide guidance to home gardeners. They include:

Rocky Point Mulching

Twin View Turf

Earthlife Garden Care

Adding to the day's festivities there will also be an on-site coffee van and the local Rotary Club will be manning a Sausage Sizzle. Gardening with a coffee and a snag - how very civilised !

Capalaba Nursery is located at 75 Duncan Road, Capalaba and is open from 8am until 4pm.

After the recent rainfall, the days are perfect to be in the garden. I'm excited. What about you?
