A small town in the Scenic Rim, Canungra is nicknamed the Valley of the Owls, due to its name coming from the indigenous word for owls (caningera). A tourist town with an emerging wine industry, Canungra is a little over an hour's drive from Brisbane.

Founded by a community of local producers, the Canungra Village Markets provide a showcase for the treats and talents of the region. On the second Sunday of the month, Moriarty Park hosts a long lineup of stalls peddling handmade and homemade goods.

Visitors can explore local handiworks and speak to the creators at this large outdoor market, where local growers, farmers and cookers share space with artists and crafters. Afterwards, grab something to eat and a coffee from a food van and enjoy the live music. The markets are family-friendly and pet friendly and if you forget to bring cash, there's an onsite ATM.

If you are interested in running a stall, the stall fee is $15. Bookings can be made by emailing [email protected] or through their Facebook page.

The markets open at 8am and run until 1pm so you don't have to get up too early if you're making the drive from Brisbane. And while you're there...
