I'm a mother of four with two coeliac children. I'm always on the lookout for great gluten-free spots around Brisbane and feature gluten-free cooking in my blog: I'm also a muso and enjoy live music around town.

Canungra Hub Cafe Deli
The Canungra Hub Cafe & Deli

If you are heading to Mt Tamborine, it is worth choosing a route that will take you through Canungra. This usually sleepy country town is buzzing on the weekends, as day-trippers drop into town on their way up the mountain. The village features a number of great eating spots, including the Canungra Hub Cafe.

Situated on Christie Street in the heart of town, the cafe boasts a wide selection of foods, both healthy and a little bit naughty, as well as deli goods and decorative items for purchase. Many of the ingredients of menu items are sourced from local suppliers, including Duck Creek Honey & Honeycomb, Greenlee Farm and 4Real Milk. Most exciting was the range of gluten-free foods on offer, with the chef happy to cater for coeliacs by adjusting ingredients where necessary.

Canungra Hub Service
The menu provides plenty of variety and the display of homemade cakes, including gluten free options, tempting.

Once you've ordered from the All Day Breakfast or lunch menu, or chosen one of the delicious treats from the cake display cabinet, you have a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The cosy indoor area boasts a range of comfortable armchair or table seating, and while in there you can browse some of the wares. Shelves are filled with deli items, a range of teapots and other handcrafted local items.

Cosy inside seating and plenty of produce and gifts to peruse

Venture outside into the courtyard and you are surrounded by a range of freshly grown foods. We enjoyed spotting lemon trees, pineapples and passion fruit vines with our kids, as well as a range of herbs. Service was quick and friendly and the Toby's Estate Coffee was of a high standard. We enjoyed vegetable stacks, a gluten-free burger, and my younger daughter chose the kids burger from a range of options for kids on the menu.

If you are looking for catering for an even they also offer a pre-order service and cakes for special occasions. No time to stop? There is also a "grab and go" fridge, stocked with freshly made sandwiches, wraps, chia cups and salads to keep you going throughout the day. The cafe does not have its own website, however, you can check out their Facebook page Here.

Looks and sounds like a perfect lunch stop. I'm not a vegetarian, but that vegetable stack looks delicious.

A nice drive from Brisbane and this looks like being a good place to stop for a rest and a bite to eat.
