A beautiful spot for a paddle
Only a few minutes drive from central Caloundra and just over an hours drive from Brisbane, Bell's Creek is a great spot for an easy family canoe trip. It's a wonderful way to spend time as a family, and enjoy the great outdoors.
Beautiful scenery along the Creek
There are easy places to launch at Keith Hill Park with plenty of roadside parking. With a shaded electric BBQ point, picnic benches, toilets and a great children's playground, there is plenty of scope to base yourself here for the day.

The Creek is lined with mangroves, making a very scenic paddle. We spotted lots of wildlife, including a flock of pelicans and jumping fish. If you're lucky you might spot sea eagles, ospreys or whistling kites. The water was very calm on the day we went out, which was ideal for a family trip with small children. As it's tidal, you are best to go around high tide.

If you don't have your own boat, you can hire kayaks nearby at
Bill's Boat Hire and explore Pumicestone Passage. However they only have sit-on-top kayaks, not open Canadian style canoes. If you're feeling lazy, you could hire a "tinnie" motor boat instead.

Why not make a weekend of it and stay over in Caloundra? You could visit the fun
Bulcock Street Markets on Sunday morning, enjoy time at
Bulcock Beach (ideal for small children) or one of the bigger surf beaches. If you're staying in an apartment,
Otranto's Cafe is a great place for a good value breakfast or lunch.
