Canine Wellness Kitchen at the Hank Marvin Market

Every Saturday, dogs are always a welcome presence at the Hank Marvin Market at Alma Park, St Kilda. While food trucks offer delicious meals for dog owners and their families, the dogs have had to be satisfied with tidbits falling on the ground or food their owners brought along with them.

Last Saturday (24th September 2016) that all changed when the Canine Wellness Kitchen food truck arrived at the market to tempt dogs and their owners with tasty and healthy snacks and meals. For the AFL Grand Final weekend, lucky bulldogs were even offered treats for free, perhaps hoping this gesture would rub off on a victory for the Western Bulldogs.

Canine Wellness Kitchen is a specialty food truck for dogs; serving up dog treats, canine ready-made, healthy meals made from raw food, dog bone broth and even dog beer. All the food is made from good quality, dog-specific raw elements and is intended to add nutritional value to your dog's diet; hence the wellness element in this new dog-food business. As part of the Because I Luv My Dog pet food brand, the idea behind the business started when one of the owner's dogs had a health condition.

His owner found that by making him special food, with added vitamins and nutritional elements, his condition improved. The dog, a Golden Retriever, went on to enjoy another 3 years of life, no doubt enjoying the delicious meals every day. All the food from the food truck comes with information for not only what is in it, but also what conditions it can help alleviate. So, for example, the Roo Chew is high in protein, low in fat and good for sensitive and allergic stomachs.
