Last weekend included me learning something new - how to make jewellery and other items using resin.

I bought this experience through the Red Balloon site and journeyed to Newtown on Sunday for this 3hr workshop where I made 2 bangles and 2 rings.

It was the most fun and easy workshop I've done. We used moulds and mixed resin, added pigments and streak effects and then sanded and polished our work.

Each student poured their leftover resins into two moulds to make some small bowls. Names were drawn out of a hat at the end and mine was one of them so I got a bowl as well as the jewellery I made.

My rings need a bit more sanding and polishing but most of the work was done in class. It was a thoroughly enjoyable 3hrs.

The shop has lots of different moulds and products that create pearl effects, among others. You can make bowls, platters, and more. They sell kits that cover everything you need or you can buy items individually, both online and in store.

A beautiful canvas was displayed in the shop that had leftover resins splashed on it and it made for a colourful piece of art.

All in all, a good way to spend a Sunday.
