The Cancer Council is there for so many people who need help during a difficult time, and there are so many avenues that they are involved in, both in research and in hands-on relief/help for the public. I can attest to this as I have been there myself and their support, empathy and friendliness is unsurpassed.

To this end, they constantly need to raise money as without these funds, the research would be slowed down, and the public could not get such a valuable service - and it is often that they call on these services at a very vulnerable time in their lives.

This is a list of events sponsored by the Cancer Council in order to raise awareness and get those much-needed funds.

1. Relay for Life - Northam
Relay For Life is a fun and moving overnight experience that helps raise these vital funds for the Cancer Council's research, prevention, information and support services.

Relay is a chance for the Northam community to assist with local cancer survivors, patients and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost to cancer, as well as to raise money to help save more lives.

Join the thousands of Australians who take part in Cancer Council's Relay For Life each year in the fight against cancer. You can start your own team or join a team in the Wheatbelt (Avon Valley) Relay today.

This event will be held on Friday 9th March, 2018 to Saturday 10th March, 2018, from 7.00 pm. It will be held at the Henry Street Oval, in Northam, and for more details, phone 1300 656585 or to register, go to Relay for Life here.

2. Relay for Life Great Southern
This Relay for Life is for the Great Southern Area which covers Albany and surrounds.

This one will be held on Saturday 17th March, 2018 to Sunday 18th March, 2018 at 11.00 am. This event will be held at Centennial Park, in Albany, and registrations details are the same as above.

3. Relay for Life Busselton
Relay For Life Busselton will be just part of the thousands of Australians who take part in Cancer Council's Relay For Life each year, in the hope of finding a cure, and fighting this dreadful disease.

This event will be on from Saturday 7th April to Sunday 8th April, 2018 and will start from 11.00 am. It will be held at Churchill Park, in Busselton, and once again registrations details are above.

4. QV1 Descent
This is WA's highest single pitch building and features abseiling to the ground. This year, the aim is to have more than 300 participants to raise funds.

QV1 is the fourth tallest building in Perth, 160m abseil, 40 storeys high! This exciting event is back by popular demand and is tried and tested and run by former SAS expert abseiler, Terry Hewett OAM, who has been successfully and safely running similar events across Australia for over 40 years.

Your registration fee includes a small portion to cover the cost of a training session, and the minimum fundraising target is $750.

This will be held on Thursday 19th April, 2018 to Saturday 21st April, 2018 at the QV 1 Building, 250 St Georges Terrace, in Perth, and the cost is $200.

5. Relay for Life Perth
Once again, you can start your own team or join a team in the Relay For Life Perth 2018 Relay.

This event will be held on Saturday 5th May, 2018 to Sunday 6th May, 2018 from 12.00 noon.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is a great chance for friends, family or work-buddies to get together over a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy something to eat.
