Canberra Unscripted is an exciting festival of unscripted theatre coming to the Street Theatre from 10 to 12 August 2018.Come along with your family and friends and enjoy a jam-packed weekend of improvised music, comedy and genre shows.The 2018 festival, which is proudly presented by Alchemists Improvisation, BnC Theatre, Chrysalis Theatre and Lightbulb Improv, also features "Outta the Box" a variety show which is suitable for the whole family.Multiple show packages are currently available at discounted prices, so you can enjoy a little or a large slice of the festival. Outta the Box will draw the eyes away from the screen and into the amazing imagination of your child's mind. Inspired by 'Not a Box' by Antoinette Portis, children's imaginations will be captured with the joy and freedom of cardboard boxes. Improvisation performance games, puppets, songs and stories are all in store with kids leading the play. It's amazing what you can create with just a box. At the family-friendly times of 11am and 2pm this one-act show is the perfect antidote to screen-time! Get there early and take part in some fun craft activities![BREAK]Chez ColetteDirector: Heidi SilbermanGood evening and welcome to Chez Colette, please take a seat. On the menu this evening, our special is just what you have been craving, a guilt-free serving of people watching.Sit back, drink in the atmosphere and then gobble up the gossip as you peep at the private dinner conversations of the guests dining at Chez Colette. A pinch of lust, a dash of romance, a dollop of disagreement and a drizzle of comedy poured over a meaty morsel of relationships make Chez Colette a tasty dish not to be missed.[BREAK]Singin' in the What?! An Improvised MusicalDirector: Lou MaconachieThe Street is alive with the sound of music.Based on a suggestion from the audience, Canberra's finest musical improvising talent will craft a brand-new musical on the spot with the live Canberra Unscripted house band as accompaniment.Think show-stopping Broadway numbers and soaring duets in the tradition of Lloyd-Webber, Gilbert, Sullivan, Rodgers or even Hammerstein! Comedy, drama and sweet melodies will abound in one act of musical magic.[BREAK]Truth or Dare by Lightbulb ImprovDirector: Jeremy StrasserIt's back! Two teams square off in a seriously silly showdown. In an attempt to secure points team members will need to perform scenes that reveal embarrassing, funny or interesting truths or be subjected to physical challenges.Will skeletons be unleashed from the closet or will heads be dunked in water or filled with marshmallows? Which team will reign supreme in this feast of theatrical combat?Presented by the hugely popular Lightbulb Improv troupe this comedic collection of short scenes is not to be missed.[BREAK]The Young and the WrestlersDirector: Brad HoffBold costumes, body slams and bawdy banter. All part of the gloriously over the top world of Pro Wrestling.The Young and the Wrestlers gives you a fantastically fun all-access pass to wrestling in all its splendour. Be a fly on the wall in the locker room during the World Wrestling Association's biggest event of the year, "Slam of the Titans", and see the drama of the people beneath the costumes. Marvel as you watch backstage friends pretend to be heated in-ring rivals and trash talk each other until somebody 'taps out'.Get ready to rumble![BREAK]Escape Room Live!Director: Reid WorkmanA motley crew of individuals are trapped. Can they remain calm and work together long enough to solve the mysteries of the room and escape? Or will the weight of their shared personal history and the pressure of the moment be too much to handle? The clock is ticking, but is there enough time to resolve the puzzles and their relationships?Inspired by the explosion of Escape Rooms in Canberra and the world, this show brings you an engaging and intense experience as you watch the actors, in character, react to unknown puzzles in real time.
