A family friendly evening of Japanese culture
The Canberra Nara Festival is a much-anticipated event held each year, attracting thousands to this family friendly evening of Japanese culture. Be captivated by the vision of 2,000 shimmering candles in the Nara Peace Park, listen to drumming and musical performances on stage, learn calligraphy and get the kids involved in lantern making, origami, ikebana and kite flying. Arrive with a good appetite as there will be a range of food stalls selling Japanese cuisine to enjoy. Browse the markets, watch sumo wrestling and celebrate the 22nd year of the Sister City relationship shared between Canberra and Nara, Japan.
