The time has come for Canberra's streets to be filled with over 4,000 runners and walkers at the annual charity Canberra Times Fun Run , presented by Westpac. Now in it's 40th year, this event is to raise money for charity, with $110,000 raised in 2014 for over 200 charities.

Growing in popularity each year, the organisers believe they can raise over $200,000 this year for 250 charities.

Held on Sunday September 6th, Fathers Day, it is the perfect opportunity for the family to get together and support each other for charity. If your Dad is a runner, perhaps help him fundraise and cheer him on along the route.

There are 3 races on the day, with participants running in either the Adidas 5km race or the longer 14km and 10km races. Both the 14km and 10km races begin in Woden and the 5km race begins in Parkes with all races finishing at Rond Terraces in Commonwealth Park.

Their website shows the route for each race, however this plan is subject to change, so check the website again for details before the race.

Also see the organisers Run Out Loud Facebook page, for updates. Run Out Loud also organise Sydney's City 2 Surf, City 2 South in Brisbane and others in each capital city. For the whole year they aim to raise 6 million dollars over all the vents.

There are start lines for the seeded runners and elite wheelchair athletes at the front, general runners behind and walkers at the back. The race is timed, so you can try and beat your time from last year, or you can dress up and enjoy the day and party your way along the course. You can also enter as a corporate team of 20 or more, if you want to raise money and enjoy the day as a group.

To entertain the crowd they will have DJ Hot Dub performing at the start line. If you want to pysch yourself up (or warm yourself up!) before the race, then this dance act is sure to get your feet moving.

According to his website Hot Dub began in 2011 and have played to sold out shows around the world. "Songs are played in strict chronological order from 1954 to 2015 with enormous mashed visuals all scratched live from vinyl turntables. Created and performed by DJ Tom Loud Hot Dub is all about singing, dancing and having the best, party, EVER!"

At the finish line there will be Goodwill and Duncan , who have DJ'ed at The Big Day Out, Summadayze and other top Australian Festivals. Recover from the race and listen to his tracks while you catch up with friends and compare times.

The only way to enter is online prior to the event, with an entry fee depending on how early you register before the race.

To set up the fundraising, request a fundraising page as part of your registration. If you have already registered or would like to sponsor a runner, join the everyday hero website for further ways to help.

Also racing is Olympian and Ironman Ky Hurst, so keep an eye out for him in the race (if you can keep up!) or at the finish line.

If you would like to be involved, but don't want to race, then you can become a volunteer to help out on the day.

Register for the The Canberra Times Fun Run if you are looking for an excuse to dust off the sneakers and train for something to keep away those winter lurgies, or perhaps support your Dad on Fathers Day. It is an ideal way to support the the community, your favourite charity and exercise for good health.

And most importantly...
