Canberra Food and Wine Expo is a three day event showcasing gourmet foods, wine, demonstrations by celebrity chefs and the best part - free tastings!

This event is now in its fifth year and will be held at the Canberra Exhibition Centre. There will be a full program of events to tantalise your taste buds and introduce you to new recipes and cooking techniques to try at home.

On the Main Stage inside the Expo there will be cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, including Ben Milbourne from 2012 Masterchef who has written two cookbooks. Rishi Desai, finalist in the 2013 Master Chef series will also be demonstrating as well as local chef Nikhil Jain from the National Convention Centre and Prasantha Giragama, sous chef from Crowne Plaza in Canberra. Visitors to the Expo can also book a seat in the Dining Room to watch a degustation cooking demonstration by Ben Milbourne before sitting down to enjoy the meal with him, paired with matching wines. There are only 35 seats per sitting for Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes. Tickets are $85 each plus booking fee. For a list of the menu and to book a ticket, see here .

There are also free wine, cheese and gourmet food classes in the Appreciation Area held throughout each day. No bookings are required for these classes, just take a seat and listen to exhibitors explaining the techniques they use to make their quality wine or produce.

As you wander around looking at the exhibits, there will be food and wine tastings to enjoy along the way. With hundreds of exhibitors attending, you are sure to find a number of new favourite wines or gourmet food items to take home with you and enjoy later.

If you buy your tickets online, day pass prices are adults $20, concessions $18 (plus booking fees) and children under 14 are free with an adult. You can also buy multi-day passes. See here to book.
