If you love the hustle and bustle of Christmas markets and you want to support local small businesses this year, Canberra has a great lineup of markets running through late November and December so you can shop local til you drop and stuff the stockings of your nearest and dearest with some hyper local goodies. With Christmas fast approaching, this list of fourteen markets should help to plan your shopping to get maximum market time in the lead up to Christmas 2021.

Alliance Francaise French Christmas Market

If you like the idea of your Christmas shopping having tres chic French vibes, the Alliance Francaise French Market is back just in time for your festive shop. There will be food, drinks, deli, handmade products and a wide selection of fine French products and services at this annual French Market. Make it a family affair and enjoy the French food and live music while you shop.

The Cottage Markets

The Cottage Markets includes stalls selling handmade arts and crafts, plants, books, clothing and more in a family-friendly atmosphere. A good market to consider if you want to get your shopping list checked off nice and early.

Marymead Monster Christmas Garage Sale

If thrifty and planet
friendly Christmas shopping is more your style Marymead's Monster Christmas Garage and Plant Sale will have a treasure trove of goodies just waiting to be discovered.

There will be plants, clothes, books, homewares, jewellery, bric-a-brac, handbags, craft, toys, accessories and more and all proceeds will go to Marymead so your gifts will give in more ways than one.

Christmas Markets in the Park

If you're looking for a weekday market, the Christmas Markets in the Park will be showcasing a range of unique offerings and promoting a diverse range of local Canberra businesses within the Brindabella Business Park. Timed so you can use your lunch break wisely, this is a good option for a spot of sneaky shopping.

Details: 10:30am - 2:30pm 2 December, Town Square Oval, Brindabella Business Park.
Haig Park Christmas Village Markets

Running over three days in December, the Haig Park Markets are getting a dose of Christmas magic. The market will have a Festive Drinks Garden, live Christmas carols performed by the Canberra Chordsmen a cappella chorus, Christmas medleys by the string quintet Scribly Strings, and Christmas themed market stalls. There will be food stalls, fresh produce, Christmas hams, mince pies, puddings, handmade jewellery, Christmas decorations and more set amongst the pines of Haig Park.

Going with kids? They can craft their own gingerbread ornaments or meet Santa so this one will entertain the whole family.

Details: 9am - 2pm on 5, 12 and 19 December at Haig Park.

Handmade Canberra Christmas Market

Usually, the queen of the Canberra market scene, this year's Handmade Market will be continuing in the online format meaning you can trawl the pages of handmade goodness from the comfort of your couch. The site will be live from 9am - 9pm on 27 November. Find it at Handmade Canberra .

Kingston Night Market

The inner south know how to do a good market and this year, Say Hello Kingston are running a Christmas night market on Eyre Street.

Friday 3 December 3pm - 6pm, Eyre Street Kingston

Christmas Sparkle Market

A beautiful bespoke event, the Christmas Sparkle Market will feature crafters and artisans from the Canberra region. Running over two days, there will be 25 stalls all chosen for their quality and attention to detail so this is a great chance to buy some unique Christmas gifts.

Details: 10am - 1pm 4 and 5 December at the Pearce Community Centre.

Harmonie German Club Christmas Market

If you have a hankering for a German-themed Christmas Market, this is the one for you, especially if you're wanting to add some Deutsch treats to your Christmas table. The market will be stocked with a German Deli, German breads & cakes, German wines, beer and schnapps and handmade crafts & specialty stalls.

Hartley Hall Christmas Markets

After an extended Covid hiatus, the Hartley Hall Christmas Markets will be back with a bon-bon sized bang this December. With one of the biggest ranges of stallholders in the ACT, this outdoor market is going to be jam-packed with Christmas gift ideas as well as food and local produce. This year's Christmas market will be ticketed to limit numbers so make sure you have a ticket before you head over.

Dairy Road Market

This December will see the return of the Dairy Road Markets bringing together wine tastings by Cellar Door, a selection of art and crafts by CraftACT, works from Molonglo's Art and Object Collection, local produce, handmade objects, secondhand clothing, music by DJ Mark Mallett and all-ages play activities. You can also check out the businesses at Dairy Road that will also be open to the public as part of the market.

Tickets are $12 and include a Cellar Door stemless wine glass. Under-18s attend free.

Poochies Picnic and Christmas Doggie Market

If your pooch wants to put their best paw forward and join the Christmas fun, the Poochies Picnic Christmas Doggie Market is the place to go. As well as the market, there will be festive photos, a dog play area and the Paws Cafe will be serving puppicinos.

Details: 10am - 3pm on Saturday 11 December at EPIC (Mallee Pavilion).

Hall Village Christmas Fair

The Hall Village Christmas Fair aims to support local small businesses, artisans and entertainers impacted by the recent lockdown. There will be over 30 artisan vendors, food stalls and live entertainment. The Fair will include a special visit from Santa at noon, fresh-cut Christmas trees for sale on-site, wood chop competition and demonstration and the chance to see the Hall Collectors Club's classic cars. The Heritage Village Museum will be open to the public and you are invited to bring along a picnic to enjoy on the grounds.

Canberra Small Business Christmas Market

The Canberra Small Business Christmas Market will be offering locally made gifts and crafts. The timing means this one is perfect if you've left everything to the last minute but still want to support local.
