A morning with the most beautiful view
The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is held over 9 days in March and is one of the top four hot air balloon events in the world. Where else would you be able to see hot air balloons flying over some of Australia's most significant buildings?
Each day between March 8 and March 16 the Canberra skyline will be filled with a variety of shapes and colours to brighten your morning and the ground will be filled with song and music.
The entertainment will play between 7:00 - 10:00am daily and feature artists such as Steve and Kirrah Amosa, the Funky Fedorasand the Mitch Canas duo. The Belconnen Lions Club will also be offering a wonderful hot breakfast to be purchased each morning, as well as hot drinks Dutch pancakes.
The journey of the balloons begins on the lawns of the Old Parliament Building. It is here that the pilots begin inflating these majestic aircraft to make them ascend into the beautiful Autumn sky above. As the balloons normally take between 15-30mins to inflate, balloons will not be launched until approximately 7:00am.
But you need not only watch! Why not experience the amazing wondering heights in a hot air balloon over the majestic buildings found in Canberra at sunrise for yourself? You can book balloon flights through Balloon Aloft and Dawn Drifters .
But, be warned: Ballooning activities may need to be cancelled or delayed, as they will only fly in specific weather. The decision to fly or not to fly will occur at 6am daily. Information regarding delays can be found on their Facebook / Twitter accounts and on local radio stations. Remember to bring warm clothes a camera and cash, as there no ATM on site. Entry is FREE but balloon flights will incur a cost.
