Western Australia has some of the most beautiful and scenic outback locations in the world. With ample camping sites and well-maintained tourist parks, you're sure to find a location to suit your favourite style of camping. With so many options, it often becomes hard deciding which spot is right for your family. To assist with your decision-making, I have compiled a list of 5 amazing West Australian camping locations loved by the locals.

1. Karijini National Park
Located just south of Port Hedland, Karijini National Park is Western Australia's second largest park. With an expansive rugged landscape and spectacular scenery, you'll be blown away by the sheer beauty of the traditional Aussie outback. Massive mountains stand out over the flat valleys and dusty plain making for an amazing sight.

With temperatures often topping 40 degrees Celsius, it important to be well prepared. Head up to Karijini National Park's northern area and view the spectacular gorges, waterfalls, rock pools and unique wildlife. Make sure to be careful, don't go to close to the cliff edges and take caution with the native wildlife such as dingoes.

2. Cape Le Grand National Park
Looking to take a long trip down to the southern part of Western Australia? Then Cape Le Grand National Park is the place for you! Located 45 minutes west of Esperance, the park features some of the most beautiful white sandy beaches in Australia.

The campsites feature toilets, access to water, gas barbeques and picnic tables. At a low-cost of $10 per adult per night ($6.60 for concession holders) and $2.20 per child (5-15 years of age), you can have a great night camping in this beautiful location.

3. Sandy Cape Recreational Park
Located north of Perth, Sandy Cape is one of Western Australia's best-camping sites. A great location to take the kids on a school holiday, or even visit as one leg on a longer trip, you won't be disappointed with the beautiful landscape. Sandy Cape has some beautiful rock formations set out amongst the beautiful white sand dunes and crystal blue water. Spend your nights sitting on the beach watching the beautiful sunset across the sparkling water.

4. Honeymoon Pool
Just east of Bunbury, Honeymoon Pool is a hidden gem absolutely adored by the locals. The river is shaded by overhanging peppermint trees which make for an amazing experience if you are swimming or canoeing. Feeling adventurous? You could have some serious fun on the rapids.

Further up the river, you will find some dangerous rapids which are somewhat unsafe, however, if you follow the river down, the rapids are much tamer and suitable for teenagers.

5. Waychinicup National Park
Waychinicup River's protected inlet is known as a great fishing, canoeing and swimming location. Location just east of Albany, Waychinicup provides some great camping spots with spectacular views. Large unusual granite rock formations are visible across the coast and make for a truly unique picturesque sight. If you are planning a long trip down and around Albany, it's a great spot to visit.
