Robert Campbell was a prominent Scottish merchant in the early days of Sydney. He is often referred to as the father of Australian commerce after going in to competition against the mighty British East India Company.
He purchased this site in 1799 and, circa 1838, constructed a private wharf to house imports such as sugar, tea, and spirits from India.
Today, some small art galleries as well as a variety of waterside restaurants with spectacular views occupy the Campbell Storehouses.
Address: Campbell's Storehouse, 7-27 Circular Quay West, The Rocks, Sydney, NSW, 2000
