Known as the nudist beach in Werribee, bathers who enjoy a skinny dip may be forced to go elsewhere. The Wyndham Council is reviewing the "clothing optional status" of the beach. The impact of urban growth has no limits and this time it may effect the adventurous and free spirited all over sun loving bathers.



Due to the housing sprawl Campbells Cove is not as secluded as previously. In addition there is an increase in a use of the foreshore and the council intend to upgrade landscaping in and around the Campbells Cove precinct.

These changes to the area have resulted in the review of whether the clothing optional status can continue. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the council consults with the community over this issue. It's hard to resist all the possible sick jokes but I think the arguments could be very revealing when people argue for and against the right to bare all at the beach.

I'm sure residents of Werribee would object to this but I wouldn't be caught dead swimming in this area. Sure they've cleaned up their act but it's a bit too close for comfort to the sewerage plant for my liking.

Apparently, the decision to change the status of the beach would need the approval of Planning Minister Matthew Guy. Sorry I have to say it… I wonder which way he will swing.
