Camera clubs have been around as long as cameras have. There are many of them in South Australia and most likely there is one within easy driving distance of your home. A quick Google search will get you a list of clubs in your area.
Most camera clubs have their own websites where they list their program for the year. Each club is different from the other - all offering something that the other doesn't, so it's worth spending some time having a look and seeing if that particular club is the one for you. Club memberships generally cover a wide and varied range, both in age and experience - it can be a valuable exchange of ideas and knowledge.
Most clubs welcome visitors to their meetings, so why not go along and meet the members before you commit yourself. On most occasions, apart from competitions, you'll be able to participate in their club activities.
I am a member of the Port Adelaide Camera Club and love the interaction and friendliness of all the people I meet there. I have never regretted joining a camera club.
My camera club is affiliated with the South Australian Photographic Federation - their website is a handy tool for locating other camera clubs in South Australia - why not check them (and a camera club) out?
