A retired business owner, my passions are cooking, photography and eating. I use all three of these when I write for which is on HubGarden
Come and watch these great camel races and much more
Camels are gorgeous animals! Granted, they do sometimes spit but this really does no harm apart from the disgusting smell. I used to breed llamas and they are from the same family. They are merely much smaller than camels, both generally have a laid back personality.I used to let my newborn ducks and geese run in between the llamas' feet as I knew they would never harm them.

Camels can be a bit dangerous due to their large size, however, the ones that take people for rides naturally have peaceful, calm personalities and this has been bred into them.

Watching camels race can be a really funny and exciting event and I recently read that Western Australia has the highest number of wild camels in the world. They can be extremely quick as they race away but can also be extremely stubborn!

Camels are raced in professional events in Saudi Arabia, where large amounts are bet on the races. These distances can be between about three and ten kilometres. In the inland desert regions of Australia, there are also camel racing events, though we do not take it as seriously as our Arab counterparts! To us, it is a bit of a joke.

Camel Racing Downunder are excited to present camel races at the Gosford Showgrounds! The camels usually run at around 65 km/h in short sprints. They can maintain a speed of around 40 km/h for about an hour at a time. These camels are often ridden and controlled by child jockeys. Children are favoured because they are not heavy.

It will be on Saturday, 24th August 2019 from 3.00 am to 9.00 pm at Gosford Showgrounds, Showground Road, Gosford. You can book at this site.

Well, it is not just camel racing at this event - there will be much more such as the following to do and see:
