Say hello to the 128th Camden Show as it returns on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 April 2014 to the historic Onslow Oval and Showgrounds.
Brace yourself for two huge days of family fun with all sorts of competitions left, right and centre; heaps of exhibitions for everyone to enjoy; and a mountain of entertainment to please the crowds. The show has been entertaining, electrifying and educating the masses for 127 years and to this day, it is still one of the largest and most popular events in the Macarthur Region. Attracting more than 40,000 visitors and competitors every year, there is something for everyone at the show.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate from just $25 and children under 6 years of age are free. Family passes are available for $60 and consider becoming a
member to save money.
There is so much happening that I get overwhelmed from just browsing the schedule. You should download the program via the
Camden Show website when it becomes available to make your planning a little easier.
[SECTION]The Don't Miss List[/SECTION]
There are plenty of exciting events here at the Camden Show and here are some of the ones that you shouldn't miss!
Lumberjack Spectacular
Suitable for all ages, the Lumberjack Spectacular is a show that will make you laugh, require you to cheer and clap, and perhaps even cause you to scream at times. Intrigued? Well, come and witness Stirling Hart, the world champion speed climber, do his thing; and a group of crazy Canadian lumberjacks battle it out with a chainsaw to see who's the best. It's a show that's full of action and excitement guaranteed to amaze and wow all audiences.
The Parades
Four big parades in two short days! Don't miss the Military Tattoo on Friday between 6.30 and 7.30pm in the Main Arena for it will be a spectacular sight with cadets representing all the armed forces, Army vehicles, jeeps and emergency services vehicles.
In addition, the Main Street Parade on Argyle Street, Commercial and Major Sponsors Parade, and Main Arena Grand Parade will also entertain the masses.
Pansy - Trackless Train
After a successful debut in 2013, Pansy is back this year to pick you up, drop you off, and take you all around the showground all day long for just $2. This is the best way to see everything that's on offer at this year's show.
[SECTION]Kids Interactive[/SECTION]
New for you this year is Kids Interactive located near the Chick Hatchery and Sow and Piglets. So make sure you bring your youngsters and take advantage of the many interactive and educational activities and demonstrations throughout the show. Come and try various hands-on activities such as kite flying, cooking, caring for chooks, and floristry. Come and learn about the Macarthur area and the local agricultural connections. Come and see the wool before processing and discover everything there is to know about wool. This is great fun for kids of all ages so don't miss out!
[SECTION]Animal Wranglers[/SECTION]
It's chaotic, humorous, fun and exciting. Experience a series of demonstrations, see all sorts of animals perform, and meet the latest additions to the show. Expect horses, mules, dogs, ducks, bullocks and pigs to fill the arena. Check out Whipstick, the 'non-equine' horse, Macca, the shy stablehand, playful Bazza the clown, and Jet the troublemaker. You'll also see demonstrations on how to get your horse working with you and learn about how to gain its trust. There will definitely be lots of laughs and giggles as well as delight and amazement.
[SECTION]Main Arena[/SECTION]
Hang out, chill out and relax at the Main Arena because you won't miss out on the most exciting parts of the show.
Experience show jumping from 8am on Friday, watch the various parades on both days, and bring a blanket to watch the live broadcast of the rodeo on the big screen. It will be thrilling to watch!
Don't forget to check out the horse events from 8am and the sheep dog trial demonstration from 4.45pm on Saturday.
The Remondis Night Show begins from 6pm on Saturday with heaps of entertainment for everyone. The Brumby Run returns with three teams - Remondis, Macarthur Stockfeeds and Tabcorp Park Menagle to compete in this year's show. Watch local riders catch and yard loose wild horses, displaying spectacular outback horsemanship and skills.
Other thrilling events on the night include Izuzu Team D-MAX Precision Driving which will have your adrenaline pumping; camp draft demonstration, hay race, and the show culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.
