State-of-the-Art Exhibition
The Camberwell Art Show has been taking place since 1966. Organised by Rotary, the aim of the Art Show is to:

- Raise money for the charitable use of the Rotary Club,

- Provide a venue for artists to display their works, and

- Provide a community artistic event.

Rotary provides financial assistance to the people of developing countries as well promoting international understanding and goodwill. In excess of $2.3 million has been raised for local, national and international humanitarian and charitable projects.

Camberwell Art Show 2014 runs from Saturday 28th June to Sunday 6th July. It is open from 10am to 5pm daily. For the second year running, the Art Show will be held at the Advanced Technologies Centre (ATC) building at Swinburne University, Burwood Road, Hawthorn.

There's an array of prizes on offer to competing artists, including an attractive first prize of $20,000 for the work judged 'best in show'. Not surprisingly, this financial incentive attracts many artists; this year, 1200 artworks will be on display. You can preview the artworks in the show in the online gallery.

There will be free demonstrations to Art Show visitors, featuring leading artists from around Australia. Details of these demonstrations can be found online.

Admission to the show is $18 for adults (includes car parking in the Swinburne University Multi-Deck Parking Station), $16 concession, children under 16 admitted free.

The Gala Preview and Official Opening of the Art Show is taking place at 7.00pm on Friday 27th June, at the ATC Building, Swinburne University. Admission is by prepaid ticket only; tickets are $55 each. Savouries and beverages will be provided. Guests attending this event will have the opportunity to meet the award winning artists, and be the first to view and purchase paintings.

A raffle is also being held in conjunction with the Art Show. First prize is a painting by last year's 'best in show' artist, David Chen, entitled 'Morning Lights' (valued at $3800). Tickets are $2 each and can be purchased at the Art Show or online (note that there is a minimum purchase of 6 tickets if you buy the tickets online).

Need a coffee or meal while you're in the area? I recommend Crabapple Kitchen in Glenferrie Road, which is just a short walk from Swinburne University.
