If you really want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and experience a little piece of rural Australia in Sydney's backyard, then take the family to visit Calmsley Hill City Farm.

It's approximately 40 minutes from the heart of Sydney, located at Fairfield, and a place where children and adults can enjoy a variety of exciting shows and exhibits.

Get up close and personal with a range of native and farmyard animals. You can pet the kangaroos, play with newborn chicks, feed the animals in the farmyard nursery or learn how to milk a cow. Who could resist petting a newborn lamb, or watching a litter of piglets enjoying a feed.

There are informative shows throughout the day including a working dog show, sheep shearing and a stock whip show. Take a ride around the farm on a tractor, or enjoy a picnic lunch in the beautiful grounds.

Calmsley Hill Farm almost ceased to exist after the original operators, the Fairfield City Council was unable to keep the farm running due to financial constraints. In early 2010, a family owned company stepped in and took over. The farm was renamed, and rebranded with the aim and the vision that the farm and the Environmental Learning Centre should educate the public on environmental sustainability and awareness of the farm experience.

For a great family day out, and a taste of the countryside, it's worth the short drive.

Thanks for taking time to write this review. I was looking at this daily deal and wasn't sure if I should take the kids there. But it looks like it is worth the drive.
