Ready for online ordering and pick-up, in-store dining, or delivery by EASI, Deliveroo and UberEats, the menu of Calia Japanese Restaurant is extensive. Choose from light sides including salads, miso soup or 63C egg to rice bowl mains, Chirashi, crispy pork, and finish off with mouth-watering dessert temptations such as Hojicha-infused boba molten chiffon cake.

My choice, the unagi bowl: grilled eel with homemade unagi sauce and truffle egg on Japanese akitakomachi rice. The delicately infused truffle omelette is worth the meal on its own, nicely complementing the sweet and tender unagi combined with a tartness of pickled radish. The only complaint was the order being somewhat cold on arrival, despite UberEats under 10 minute delivery time.

[BREAK]

For dessert, a matcha mia tiramisu, a brightly coloured dessert in a cup, consisting of layers of mascarpone-matcha cream and ladyfingers drenched in coffee. The familiar bitterness blends well with the mildly sweet cream. Unresembling of the Italian dish, but refreshing and light.

Calia offers not only cooked meals but also a shop for online orders of local and imported grocery products for pickup.

Open daily 10AM-9PM at Emporium. Bookings for in-store dining, essential : #service_1 ">book your table here.
