Midland Gate is presenting the inaugural Cale Street Festival on Sunday 24th February 2019. This will be all the fun of the fair in downtown Midland from 2.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

The Cale Street precinct has been reinvigorated and the festival will celebrate summer with family-friendly activities, market stalls, live music and some delicious food vendors.



The event will showcase the centre's $100 million redevelopment with the opening of stores such as:

  • Aldi
  • The Reject Shop
  • JB Hifi
  • 12 lifestyle stores

  • Midland Gate Shopping Centre has now turned into the area's premier fresh food, lifestyle and entertainment place to be! The Centre Manager, Alison Broadbent says the event is a first for Midland and explains that customers can enjoy Midland Gate on Cale Street, including food outlets San Churros, Mad Mex, Lone Star Rib House, Ishikiya Japanese and Chatters Restaurant.



    Highlights of the Cale Street Festival will include:

  • Live summer music ranging from jazz to indie rock to Bollywood and brass.
  • The entertainment stages will feature local performers, DJs, big bands and soloists.
  • A great variety of food experiences including alfresco dining from local restaurants and cafes.
  • Pop-up street bars.
  • Family fun including carnival rides, a special zone of free activities, face painting and plenty more for the children.
  • Unusual and fabulous art activations throughout the precinct.
  • Lots of retail shopping therapy with local business specials and market stalls.
  • Roving entertainment around the festival all day.

  • Some of the performers include:

    BUSKERS and ROVING:
  • Groovesaurus, who is a local street bass player playing funk music and instrumental beats.
  • Malachy is an international busker and songwriter, playing his original blues and folk songs.
  • Adam B Harris plays the Eastern hills harp and other unusual string instruments and is a busker who specialises in Celtic and new age music.
  • The Sonic Manipulator is also a local busker and inventor, who improvises music on the spot with his self-built instruments.
  • Jareth Raycraft is a local busker with a more traditional guitar and voice sounds featuring classics and new hits.
  • Chameleon Brass Band is a roving New Orleans style jazz-funk band.
  • More still to be announced

  • The Cale Street Festival is presented by Midland Gate and will bring together all aspects of the community, from businesses, people living in the area, local community groups and local musicians. In other words, there will be something for everyone at the inaugural Cale Street Festival. Don't miss it!
