The Brisbane City Council is in the process of developing a district park in Calamvale.
While this wonderful park isn't finished yet, it's full of trees, green grass and even a separate area for visitors to play with their dogs.
There's parking provided and upcoming additions include a public toilet block, a children's playground, a youth space, a community space, a festival space, and equipment suitable for children with varying abilities and ages.

According to the council's webpage for the park, the project is due to be complete by Christmas of this year.
Personally, I discovered this park in August of last year while looking for a picnic spot with a group of friends. I have family who live near it, so I'd gone past it a few times and decided to check it out. It was just a grassy meadow with a whole lot of trees and dry leaves at the time (see photo). We had an amazing time. We ran around and took photo's and we revisit for picnics regularly. It's in a quiet area and it's an amazingly huge space.
I can only imagine how much better it's going to be when there's a playground to attract some more attention to the place, because it really is great.
Honestly, pack up your picnic gear and go check it out. It's fantastic.
