Located along Franklin Street in Adelaide CBD,
Cake Papa is where you can enjoy a good range of cakes. The cakes offered here consist of both Western flavours and those with an Asian flair to them.
Their Swiss Rolls can either be purchased as a single flavour or as a pack of four different flavours. We liked that the sponge cake was light and fluffy and did not taste too sweet. The sponge of the Pandan Coconut Swiss Roll had the degree of pandan flavour that we expected and was partnered nicely by the coconut cream filling. Extra coconut was included to enhance the coconut flavour.

A style of cake not commonly seen, the layers of crepe in the Coconut Latte Mille Crepe Cake were light and the layers of coffee cream had a good amount of coffee flavour. The degree of bitterness was not overwhelming. A layer of coconut flesh added a touch of sweetness. The cake was finished with a ring of coffee cream and coconut flakes.

Compared to the Coconut Latte Mille Crepe Cake, the coffee flavour of the Caramel Coffee Swiss Roll was more pronounced. Caramel cream serves as the filling of the cake. The degree of sweetness is suitable for most tastes.

We liked that the Hazelnut Choc Mille Crepe Cake had enough hazelnut flavour to make eating it an enjoyable experience. The use of chocolate crepes made the layers more distinct. Layers of chocolate cream made the cake taste a bit like the hazelnut chocolate spread, Nutella. The cake was finished by a light dusting of cocoa powder.

As its name suggests, the Red Velvet Mixed Fruit Swiss Roll had cubes of fruit included in the cream filling. Along with adding an element of freshness, the fruit added extra texture to the cake.

For those who want a cake with a more pronounced chocolate flavour, there is the Chocolate Ovaltine Swiss Cake. The chocolate flavour was strong enough to make the cake deserving of its name without being overly sweet. The cream filling featured Ovaltine, a brand of malt flavoured milk drink first created in Switzerland. The Ovaltine cream imparted a slight hint of its distinctive flavour.

The cake store had a comfortable and casual feel. Display cases provided a good view of the products that can be purchased immediately. If you are looking for a place that offers cakes that are a bit different, consider giving Cake Papa a visit.
