Established in 2012 (post Christchurch earthquakes) the company was the brainchild of passionate chef Jamie and partner in the cake dream Kade, who specialises in the delicious donuts and cronuts that can be found in the cabinets on most days.
My first experience of The Cake Eating company was back in (I want to say) 2018 when the team collaborated with a local taco company for a pop-up feed at their established on 79 Buchan Street. Flash forward to 2022 and The Cake Eating Company have cemented themselves as the go-to establishment for occasional cakes and desserts.
August 2020 I was on the hunt for a wedding cake and did my due diligence researching master bakeries in the wider Canterbury region for a cake that would give me immense enjoyment post-wedding vows. The Cake Eating Company won by a long shot, their tiered cakes displayed on their online store, provided us with the exact cake that not only looked delectable, but visually worked with the colour scheme of our nuptials.
The online store is not only home to a variety of occasional cakes, but also a collection of treats that can be ordered and delivered across selected suburbs in Canterbury. Choose from: brownies, cookies, donuts, cake pops, dessert bar catering and of course custom cakes.
For custom orders, it is best to get in touch with Jamie and Kade via their online form. I found them very helpful and communicative through my experience when organising my wedding cake and subsequently since then, a custom made baby shower cake too. Below are photos of my celebratory cakes.

The Cake Eating Company is located in Sydenham and is open 4 days a week if you fancy cakes by the slice, desserts, doughnuts, hot chocolate and milkshakes, timings are: Wednesday to Friday (8am - 3:30pm) and Saturday (10am - 3pm). To see more of their creations visit their instagram page:
