After entering this year's Cairns Miss Showgirl competition, I was privileged enough to receive free tickets to the Cairns Show Wine Awards. Tickets to the much-anticipated public tasting were sold out within four days of being on offer. This year's awards boasted a selection of over 900 wines. Varieties stretched from Fortified to Sparkling.
As a Miss Showgirl participant, I was able to attend the Awards Ceremony, as well as the public tasting. Helping to present the awards was this year's, Miss Showgirl Marinka Zanitech, looking elegant in a blue lace dress.
The public tasting was a huge success, with a bustling and eager crowd entering the De Jarlais pavilion in droves. As well as the wine guests had a selection of canapés, a novelty Cairns Show Wine Awards wine glass, and a catalogue showcasing the winning wines included with their tickets. I very much enjoyed the selection of wines on offer particularly the Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs.
