The adorable Caffe E Torta in Melbourne's CBD was a completely accidental discovery. I was foraging for food before catching my flight home and couldn't simply walk past. In a nutshell, I loved the service, food, decor and atmosphere. I don't know what it's like usually, but there were primarily young people like myself there enjoying their delicious breakfast on Sunday morning.

The slightly retro but gorgeous decor attracted me to this cafe, as well as a very nice customer service attendant who asked me where I'd like to sit when I'd just barely stuck my nose in. His smile and tone seemed genuine, which is more than what I can say for many Sydney places.

I live on coffee. In fact, I just can't live without it, so it's no wonder the first thing I ordered was a mocha. I also noticed the beautiful cutlery, specifically the teaspoons. I absolutely loved my mocha, which was made very well. It tasted great and the caffeine hit really hit the spot. The balance of chocolate versus coffee was perfect.

As I further examined the menu, the item which really got me was the freshly squeezed blood orange juice. I had barely ever, actually if ever, seen freshly squeezed blood orange juice. It was full to the brim but in this photo I had already taken a couple of sips. Simply impossible to resist, I highly recommend it.

Depicted above is the delicious antipasto melt at Caffe E Torta. It had red capsicum, roast eggplant, pesto, ricotta, spinach, tasty cheese and even roast pumpkin.

I have to say, I hadn't eaten something quite so delightful in a little while. It was of a perfect temperature, too - it didn't burn my tongue off but it was deliciously warm. The flavours fused together in a way that makes me yearn to return to Melbourne.

The food, service and atmosphere were all absolutely wonderful at Caffe e Torta. Here's hoping that Sydney businesspeople discover this review and create a similar place. I have only pleasant memories of my experience there.
