One of the most common types of trams in Brisbane were referred to as "matchboxes". There were 62 trams like this built for Brisbane between 1897 and 1904. Tram number 24 pictured here in 1906, ran the Paddington to Bulimba Ferry line. This style of tram was especially popular in the hot Brisbane summers due to the easy airflow.
