If the baguettes at are anything remotely comparable to how they make it in France, then I'm tempted to book the next flight out. Café Vue is the casual dining version of Shannon Bennett's acclaimed Vue de Monde, and the high standards certainly resonate throughout his empire.

On a casual Sunday brunch at Café Vue, you can expect all the treatments of a fine dining restaurant, without the price tag. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, the ambiance is sophisticated but not extravagant and most importantly, the focus is on extracting every morsel of flavour from their food.

There is a good choice of vegetarian options…what's that you say? Good vegetarian options at a French restaurant? Absurd! Lucky for me, being a recent vegetarian convert, I can assure you that not only are there good vegetarian options, they actually taste good too. I have firsthand experience, having dined there as a meat eater and now as a vegetarian. Though don't be disappointed you carnivores out there, like I said I've had the best of both worlds, and I can attest to the fact that the meat options (abundantly more), is equally creative and delicious.

It doesn't really matter whether you're a vegetarian or not, you can't really go wrong with your choice. Try the corn fritters with avocado and watercress fennel salad, or maybe a selection of baguettes or the Vue wagyu burger. The meal itself is ingeniously designed in its portions, it's not so oversized like many places, where you begin to focus more on conquering the quantity rather than the quality; the flavours. You get just enough to satisfy your hunger, yet leaving just that bit of extra room for dessert.

You definitely don't want to skip the dessert here either. Their macarons are a must try, perfectly light and crispy on the outside, it almost feels like you're holding a feather, and gooey and bursting with the flavour of your selection on the inside.
You can enjoy this French dining experience for as little as $20. Best of all they make everything on site daily, including their indulgent macarons.

There are two Café Vue locations in the city; 430 Lt Collins Street and 401 St Kilda Road (Sunday Brunch is only available at 401 St Kilda).
