On June 7th 2013, cafes around Australia will be uniting to donate $1 to charity from every coffee sold. Money raised will be going into programs to help the homeless people of local communities.
When you buy your favourite brew, you can savour it even more knowing you are helping to raise funds and doing your bit to contribute.
The initiative is called CafeSmart. This is the third year that CafeSmart will unite cafes, coffee roasters, and coffee drinkers for a common local cause. In 2012, 232 cafes across Australia raised $74,477 in one day to assist 56 local projects. Not a bad effort.
As of now,
Sully's On Semaphore is the only cafe in my area (far North West of Adelaide) participating, but for a complete list, you can visit the
CafeSmart website.
So head into one of these participating cafes on Friday June 7th and support this wonderful intiative. The more of us to get involved, the bigger difference we can make to those less fortunate.
