Located in North Adelaide, Café Palazzo is a great place to have a meal before or after a movie at the Picadilly Cinema across the street. Befitting taking its name from the Italian word for place, serves a good range of Italian dishes, along with a few favourites from Australian cuisine. The dishes we ordered were the Veal Schnitzel, Palazzo Pizza, Pollo Calzone, Spicy Meat Pasta and Garlic Pizza Bread.

Compared to other restaurants that offer beef schnitzels, Palazzo's Veal Schnitzel was not too dry with the crispy coating contrasting wonderfully with the moist meat. It was accompanied with chips that were fried to golden brown with the salad adding a refreshing note to the dish. The mushroom sauce that we chose to be served with the schnitzel had a delicious creamy taste that lifted the flavour of the dish. Other options for the sauce include Diane, pepper, garlic cream or gravy.

The Palazzo pizza had a delectable topping of ham, salami, mushrooms, capsicum, red onion and prawn that complemented each other well. The Kalamata olives helped to give the dish a nice salty tang. Palazzo also offers Calzones, which are pizzas with the filling encased in pizza dough rather than said filling being the topping. Their Pollo Calzone had a delicious filling of mozzarella, napoletana sauce, chicken, mushroom and roast capsicum with the topping of napoletana sauce helping to bring out its flavour. It is topped with shavings of Parmesan cheese to give it a bit of salty taste with the refreshing salad balancing out its rich flavour.

The penne pasta in the Spicy Meat pasta was cooked to al dente, with a smoky taste coming from the chorizo and bacon. The salami, chilli and jalapenos helped to give the dish a spicy hit with the napoletana sauce helping to tie everything together. Just like the Pollo Calzone, the Spicy Meat pasta had a topping of shaved Parmesan to give the dish a bit of a salty element. Other options for the pasta include spaghetti and fettuccine with ravioli or gnocchi available at an extra cost.

If you are feeling hungry, you can order appetisers or bread to start your meal. One of the breads available is Garlic Pizza Bread, consisting of a pizza base topped with garlic, mozzarella and herbs. The pizza base was cooked to perfection, with its flavour enhanced by the garlic and herbs.

The restaurant is a popular place for small celebrations and with movie goers, so it is advisable to arrive early or book ahead if you plan to eat there during the peak hours. Parking is available along the streets close to the restaurant. If you have the Adelaide 2015/2016 Entertainment book , you can get 25% off your total bill, up to a value of $40.
