A private cafe in Sydney's western suburb of Bella Vista
I love cafes. I think you can never have too many cafes anywhere. I love especially discovering cafes in Sydney's suburbs which are relatively unheard of and therefore can become your new special favourite hang out to meet your buddies.

So as you can probably guess, I discovered one today, in the suburb of Bella Vista, close to the suburbs of Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills in Sydney's west.

The location is nice - in the Norwest complex, which is this new posh area with a private hospital, neatly manicured and lying over a flat expanse of land, with not a lot of greenery naturally. In a shopping complex named Circa, there are a number of specialty shops as well as a pharmacy, a Woolworths and outside, facing the road beyond, is a cafe named McKels.

It juts out beyond the shopping centre, kind of separate from the rest of the complex and offers outdoor views which is nice. The menu includes standard cafe items such as coffees, cakes and scones as well as a menu for breakfast.

The staff were friendly, greeting us as we entered. We ordered at the counter then took our seats in the corner on the soft cushion rather than the chairs and tables. The coffees were nice, nothing too fancy or unique however.

My mocha had a generous topping of chocolate powder, less on the coffee flavour I felt but still not bad.. The peppermint tea was served in a silver kettle with honey on the side, good on the presentation however not good on charging extra for the honey on the side, usually treated as sugar and hence expected it to be free of additional charges. Furthermore, a more generous serving of honey would've been preferred especially considering we were charged for it. The flat white was good, with nice flavour but too much of a cream cap, the caloric equivalent of a meal.

Overall, pretty happy with finding a cafe in that location, not being surrounded by much choice otherwise and the service was pleasant. It was also quiet on a Monday afternoon, which was great to be able to have a chat without excessive surrounding noise. Enjoyed the privacy.
