My discovery of Café Martini was something of a happy accident. I forgot my lunch. Thus the need for a café that I could pop in and out of during my break without having to spend an obscene amount of money, as so often is not the case on King Street. Since this happy accident I have made a point of forgetting my lunch more often.

At first seems unprepossessing. It's located in what looks like a shed of sorts and leads out to a courtyard in the back. Unlike the tiny cafes on King Street, where one finds they barely have elbow room, Café Martini is spacious, comfortable and relaxed.

The staff were prompt, attentive and zealously friendly. In the time between pulling out my credit card and putting it away again I was asked how I was no less than five times. I felt I should just have written 'Good, thanks.' on my forehead and save myself from the barrage of questions. Never the less, you will be left to sit in peace for the majority of your stay.

The high quality of the coffee could be measured by the look of pain and the disappointed "Merr" that escaped from a member of our party as she spilt hers. The bircher muesli was one of the better that I've tried in Sydney and the Nicoise Salad tasted like magic. Best of all, everything was brought out quickly, making this a perfect lunch break location.
