There is nothing like sitting outside, watching water crashing against rocks and sand. You can be only metres from it, either sitting inside or outside in the amazing Cafe Lago . Just across from West Lakes Shopping Centre, make your way to the water next to the Midcourse Reserve Playground and you will find yourself at this exciting venue with big things to offer.

Our visit was on a Wednesday morning, we managed to score ourselves a warm calm day. There are two sides to this cafe - near the car park, which is a small counter available for ordering take away. Or around by the panoramic views of the beautiful West Lakes, where you can sit indoors or outdoors. When entering this cute cafe, it was smaller than expected but I wondered why I had not heard of this place before. An airy, bright indoor area bathed in natural sunlight, they have clear blinds that can be opened, so the fresh air can flow in. You'll also hear the calm waters and maybe even some ducks or a sailboat.

We chose to dine outdoors on the tranquil waterfront where we sat on comfy black outdoor tables placed on grass and were even offered an umbrella by the friendly staff in case it was too sunny. It was more like a holiday destination than a cafe in the hustle and bustle of West Lakes with the water and quiet environment making it the perfect place to unwind.

Cafe Lagos' menu features modern Italian dishes, wine, coffee and all your breakfast and lunch favourites. Even though the heirloom tomato Casarecce Siciliane sounded amazing, my brunch date and I both ordered the bacon and egg burgers. Boring I know, but how can you go wrong with runny egg, crispy bacon, cheese and tomato sauce on a thick toasted bun. It was amazing - I would love to come here again just for that.

We enjoyed our meals alongside freshly squeezed orange juice and being so good, we got another one as take away on the way out. While we were waiting for the orange juice, we asked employee Chris what his menu recommendations were for our next visit. He said the saffron pappardelle, pork hock and noodle bowl.

They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and can also be hired out for functions. The cafe is available for all types of private functions such as birthdays, baptisms/christenings, engagements and it must be my clucky self, but I thought this would be the perfect relaxed venue for a gender reveal party.

Overall, this is somewhere I am so glad I found and can not wait to go back again. Nice atmosphere, relaxing environment, friendly staff and quick and efficient service - it was a faultless dine-in experience. Toilet facilities and close free parking are available. And don't forget to take a photo of yourself with the angel wings on your way out.
