The Café De Siam team have been serving fresh healthy Thai dinners every day for many years now and while the interior design style is odd tables and chairs – it is very conducive to great conversation and relaxed vibes.
We headed there for a mid-week bite and were not disappointed. I see why the locals love it here with the green curry and pad thai meals – they were delicious and super quick. This is a BYO restaurant with bottle shop in the same complex.
On this occasion we didn't order drinks and between us shared entrée and two mains. The total bill cost less than $40 – what a bargain for an eat-in restaurant.
Sitting and people watching was wonderful. There were three groups including a group of 40-somethings talking about a recent group bush-walk they had been on and the trials and tribulations of the day, two young professional women talking about opportunities for taking a step up the corporate ladder and then there was a couple lovingly chatting away.
With groups like this around you feel like you've seen a glimpse of the locals in Paddington without the glamour and lattes. In saying that it was awfully nice to window shop in some of the boutiques and antiques on the way back to the car. I was very lucky that by 8.30pm the shops were closed for the day!
