Take a break from meandering in the garden
Café de Grove was added to Garden Groves Garden Centre in 2013. It is a convenient place to enjoy breakfast, tea or lunch while visiting the garden centre. The café offers a variety of pastries and cakes along with a few popular café dishes.

Great for a light meal, Café de Grove offers a range of toasted focaccia with both "basic" and "deluxe" fillings. The Turkey Focaccia that I chose had turkey with a hint of smoked flavour which was perfectly partnered by the cranberry jam. The avocado and Swiss cheese complemented the turkey well with the focaccia bread toasted just right.

Their Chicken Schnitzel was fried to golden brown with the crisp coating being a good contrast to the perfectly cooked meat. It was accompanied with chips that had fluffy interiors along with delectable gravy that the chips and schnitzel can be dipped in. We thought the salad served with the schnitzel could have used a bit more dressing to make it more delicious however.

A good choice for vegetarians, the Vegetarian Filo had buttery, flaky pastry with a vegetable filling that complemented it well. It is best enjoyed with the accompanying hollandaise sauce poured over it.

To finish our meal we chose to order their Lemon Cheesecake. The base was not too hard with a delicious, soft filling. The topping of lemon jelly helped to complete the dish.

The café has seating on two floors. We would have loved to sit on the upper floor and enjoy the view of the nursery but that section was closed during our visit. Instead we sat at a table next to the giftware area so we had a browse through the displays while waiting for our food, which was also nice. There is also outdoor seating close to a playground for your children to play in. Plenty of off street parking is available in the carpark within the complex where the garden centre is located.
