Yummy Italian at the Spot, who would have thought?
As most Randwick-Residers are aware, the Spot is a fairly competitive destination when it comes to getting something to eat. With the ample selection available at the Spot, it can be difficult to choose the most suitable destination. Café Ciao is the perfect place if you're after a simple European meal.

Café Ciao is more like a restaurant with a lovely indoors atmosphere. Their bruschetta is deliciously lined with garlic, which adds for a delicious touch. Since eating bruschetta here, I have only ever made my own bruschetta with garlic.

Although I'm not usually one to enjoy dishes like steak, I rather enjoyed the one at Café Ciao. Not only was it cooked to the correct specification, but the vegetables and sauces that came with it were tasty and well-balanced.

However, apart from the bruschetta, the beautiful gnocchi was what really stuck out to me as something special. I'm the type of person who is a little bit obsessed with well-made potato dishes. My Italian friends protested against gnocchi in white sauce, stating that gnocchi is only acceptable in a red sauce. If you don't mind the fact that the sauce is white, this gnocchi will be a delicious dish for you as well.

The service at Café Ciao was satisfactory but it was really the quality of the food that made this restaurant special. Café Ciao is indeed a worthy competitor at the Spot.

Your Comment
I'm certain that the predominant Italian cuisine in Oz is Sicilian/Calabrese-think red sauce, tomatoes etc-.but in the North white sauces are used often.
Enjoy your white sauce gnocchi no matter what they say.
Ciao bella.
