Cafe Cavallino is one of many Italian pizza and pasta restaurants on Lygon Street.
From their gourmet home-made pasta selection, I ordered the agnolotti don vito - which was five pieces of pasta filled with pumpkin, ricotta and roast almonds covered in a napoli sauce, delivered in record speed.
The pasta tasted fresh and the napoli sauce was delicious, but if I'm honest, I could barely taste any pumpkin.
I also experienced buyer's remorse - I guess I felt that either entree pasta sizes are normally a little more generous in other restaurants, or you could get a main for the price I paid - but maybe I'm just cheap.
When I went to pay I wasn't asked if I enjoyed my meal, just "Savings or Credit?" but the service was otherwise great - I was greeted and seated straight away, brought water without having to ask for it.
I enjoyed Cafe Cavalino, I just felt it was a bit expensive given the portion size I was served - but to be fair, the pasta was fancier than the 99 cent bags I buy for home. You can view this restaurant's full menu here.
