Manly has long been a wonderfully popular seaside spot for Brisbane dwellers to spend a day. Now there is even more reason to make the short trip bayside to Manly Harbour Village. Café Bullfrog on the William Gunn Jetty has opened its doors with a flourish. Run by business partners Julieanna and Laurie, it offers a warm and friendly welcome atop the waters of Manly Harbour, with the current claim to be the only café/restaurant above water in Brisbane.



My brunch companion remembers walking down the jetty as a child, rod and bucket in hand and thoughts of fresh whiting to take home, abandoning the fishing to instead jump off the end into the cool waters of the bay. Today it is with thoughts of a hot breakfast and strong coffee as we make our way along the jetty.



The good news is the coffee was hot, strong and delicious... a wonderful start to the morning, made even more memorable with the views of the harbour and boats.



On a sunny day it's a wonderful spot to look out of the large windows enjoying the views and the bay breeze. Alternatively you could sit out on the jetty under shady umbrellas.



The breakfast menu ranged from homemade granola or smashed avocado on toast with feta and tomato to the full breakfast with the lot depending on your appetite, likes and desires. We thoroughly enjoyed our choices of ham omelette and scrambled eggs. This is good wholesome food, cooked well and generously served by eager, friendly staff.



The counter cabinet displays a large range of cakes, slices and muffins if a morning or afternoon tea option is more your style. There are also an array of scrumptious wraps and rolls for a quick healthy bite and a coffee station next to the jetty for a passing caffeine pick-me-up.



Another visit on a Saturday morning proved a great casual meeting place for a brunch with my local Meet Up group.

The views over the harbour provide a wonderful vista for contemplative thoughts of life and the world, whilst enjoying the views over cake and coffee.



Café Bullfrog is situated a short stroll up from the Manly Swimming Pool at Wyvenleigh Close off Fairfield Crescent and Royal Esplanade. A good spot to visit anytime to combine with the weekend markets or a wander along the foreshore.



The cafe is licensed and open daily from 7am to 4pm (5pm Saturday) with a delicious dinner menu Thursday to Saturday evenings.
