Located at the corner of Hindley and Leigh Street in the Adelaide CBD, offers a good range of cafe-style dishes suitable for both breakfast and lunch. It was a popular place, with a crowd of a good size when we visited.
Big Breakfast is a dish commonly seen at Australian cafes. The cafe's version is known as the Bang Bang Breakfast and featured sausages that had a nice degree of smoky flavour, and the scrambled eggs that we chose were light and fluffy. Their dish had American-style bacon, which had a crispier and firmer texture compared to the type that most Australians are used to. Completing the dish was lovely crisp and fluffy hash browns, mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes, slices of toast and butter.
The slices of fried chicken in the Crispy Chicken and Avocado Salad were cooked just right. The coating of the chicken included pepper for a hint of peppery taste. The inclusion of slices of apple and sweet potato gave the salad extra flavour and texture, and the vinaigrette dressing did not taste too tangy. While tasty enough as-is, mayonnaise was provided on the side for those that like to add more flavour to the salad.
Ideal for a single diner, the smoked salmon in the Smoked Salmon Bagel was soft while still retaining a bit of bite and had a smoky flavour. It was partnered nicely with the baby capers and Spanish onion slices, and cream cheese provided moistness without being too creamy. We also liked that the bagel that the salmon was sandwiched between was not overly chewy. Served alongside the bagel was a hash brown which was just as good as the one in the Bang Bang Breakfast.
For those that don't want to wait too long for their food, pre-made sandwiches can be ordered. These are displayed near the counter where you place your order. Its location makes it convenient for city-goers to grab a bite before/after heading to work or shopping.
