Bright and bubbly, run with brisk efficiency, bubbling with conversation and offering a mean Eggs Benedict to boot, Cafe 63 , located diagonally opposite New Farm Park, is a good choice for (all day) breakfast, lunch, or brunch.

I stumbled in one weekend to fuel up before taking Bright Learning's Walking Tour of Historical New Farm . Rivers of coffee, chocolate and chai (including the dirty chai latte, which includes a shot of espresso) were flowing out to both indoor and outdoor tables at high speed, while patrons who preferred less caffeinated options were free to sip on Cafe 63's selection of fresh juices including watermelon and mint, or carrot, apple and lime.

Let's start with breakfasts, which can be as healthy or as hearty as you desire. The lycra-clad gym bunnies who frequent this joint are fond of either the bircher muesli or fruit salad, both topped with Greek yoghurt, berry compote and roasted macadamia nuts.

For the rest of us, there are a range of classic and quirkily-named options, including the stockman's treat (lamb's fry and bacon topped with gravy and toast), the carbon tax (scrambled eggs with bacon, cheese and hash browns) and the mountie (pancakes with bacon, scrambled eggs, maple syrup and strawberry garnish).

You can order breakfast all day at Cafe 63 , but if you're looking for something more lunch-like, there are a range of sandwiches designed to please. These include the triple-decker toasted sandwich with bacon, salad leaves and tomato, or the toastie with grilled chicken breast, mashed avocado, salad and mayo.

Why not pick up a bunch of flowers while you're there? There are always a range of seasonal blooms for sale, and staff will wrap and dress them so they're doubly presentable.

If you really don't have time to take a seat, you're still in luck. Takeaway options suitable for those who live life on the run include rolls or wraps stuffed with bacon and egg, toast or toasties, or (my personal favourite) the nourishing, sweetly substantial banana bread.

And if New Farm is too far to jog, then you can check out other Cafe 63 outlets in the CBD and suburbs such as Wilston, Yeronga, Toowong and West End.
