There are two things that set Cafe 63 in Ascot apart from the other locations (City, New Farm, Runaway Bay, West End, Wilston, Yeronga). Unlike the other Cafe 63s, the Cafe 63 in Ascot is located at 63 Racecourse Road - you won't be forgetting this address anytime soon! The second, and perhaps more important thing, is that it is open 24/7 - that's right, Cafe 63 Ascot never closes.
Cafe 63 Ascot is very large, with heaps of seating options, both indoors and 'outdoors'. The weather is now getting cooler - they are combatting this with patio heaters for the patrons opting for the outdoor seating option. I paid a visit to Cafe 63 Ascot two nights ago around 2am - I had no choice but to sit outside because of Eddy, and was so glad for the heaters. It was freezing that night!
The ambience of Cafe 63 Ascot was perfect - it was casual and cozy, as well as very relaxed and warm. The choice of music was great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was also exceptionally quick - I was also surprised at the number of customers there, considering it was 2am on a Thursday night!
Cafe 63 Ascot is a great place for you to relax, whether it be morning, afternoon, or night. They have heaps of magazines and newspapers for you to peruse - there is plenty of variety, meaning that there will be something that everyone will enjoy reading.
Keep up to date with the news with free newspapers courtesy of Cafe 63.
They also have fresh flowers for sale, like the other locations - the only difference is that these flowers are available for purchase at any time of the day and night. Cafe 63 Ascot is perfect for individuals who are looking to buy flowers for someone special, but either (1) kept procrastinating from doing it, or (2) were too busy during business hours and couldn't make it to the florist on time, or (3) spontaneously decided to spoil someone special. To sum up, not only is Cafe 63 Ascot a 24/7 restaurant and cafe, it is also a 24/7 florist. Could it get any better than this?
Beautiful fresh flowers at very reasonable prices.
Cafe 63 Ascot has 2 menus - one is the regular menu, and the other a specials menu. Because it is open 24/7, you can order any item from the menu at any time of the day - I ordered a steak from the lunch menu, even though it was 2 in the morning when we paid them a visit. Because of this, the choices seemed endless, and I took a very long time deciding what to eat...
It's also worth noting that each table has its own mini condiment crate, it's absolutely adorable. It reminds me of when I was younger and I was obsessed with collecting mini food packets. Just look at those cute containers of vegemite - how could one resist?
And last but not least, the food - the food was really good, especially considering how quick service was. The poutine, which I always get, was outstanding - the bacon was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of cheese. The fries were golden and not too crispy nor too soft. Best of all, it is only $9!
Felt quite guilty eating all this at 2am, but it was worth every calorie.
Yes another good review Jane (and Eddy). I happened upon the city Café 63 last week and couldn't believe my luck. A bacon and egg roll and a bottle of water for $3! Fast service like you say too. I'll be checking out the Ascot one soon as it's not far. 24/7 a tough act to follow.
