Part of the Strathmore Hotel, Café 129 offers a wide range of Australian dishes with the most popular apparently being their range of Stonegrill dishes, which offers the unique experience of allowing diners to cook their meal on a hot stone. The place proved to be very popular, attracting a large crowd during the peak dinner hour.

Looking quite similar to a dish that you expect to see at a more "upmarket" restaurant, the Dill & Lemon Marinated Chicken Breast featured a juicy chicken breast that had a delectable char-grilled flavour. Served with the chicken was a salad of quinoa, spinach, mango and beetroot that added extra texture to the dish. The salsa verde tied everything together with its herby flavour.

The Smokey Pig topping is one of the "deluxe" toppings that can be chosen for their chicken and beef schnitzels. The chicken schnitzel I chose was of the quality we expected and the combination of the bacon and BBQ sauce delivered a smoky flavour to the dish. A topping of onion rings added a bit of extra crunch to the dish.

Aside from their main dishes, Café 129 also has a few "buckets" that are great for sharing with a group of friends. The inclusion of cashew nuts in their Pork & Cashew Nut Meatballs gave them a consistency that is bit different from the meatballs we are used to. They can be dipped in the chilli sauce provided to add a bit of spice. Their BBQ Chicken Wings were also cooked to perfection with enough BBQ flavour to make eating them enjoyable.

Should you decide to drop by for lunch, the restaurant offers a selection of dishes costing around $14, all of which come with a free soft drink. The restaurant is also conveniently located close to a tram stop and the Adelaide Railway Station which makes it really convenient to get to it. It's a great place to have a bite before or after a footy game.
