A retired business owner, my passions are cooking, photography and eating. I use all three of these when I write for recipeyum.com.au which is on HubGarden
Come and look at the fascinating range here
Cacti and succulents are the in thing at the moment. Many of us are changing over to these water-wise plants, in some cases partly due to water restrictions. They are also very easy to look after and generally do not die like many other plants in our gardens tend to at times!
Two lovely specimens
Cacti and succulents are very hardy and can have delightful flowers, even though many of these are short-lived. I am a collector of these fascinating plants and am always on the lookout for species that I do not have. You can see more about collecting them here.
The Cactus & Succulent Society of Australia Inc. presents its annual Cactus and Succulent show and sales event.
There will be an extensive display of cacti and succulents to view, buy and even photograph. Here you will find some interesting and often unusual plants, many of which can also be hard to buy. You will also be able to buy books at this event.
A rare cacti

The Cactus & Succulent Society of Australia Inc. is a not for profit organisation. The Society believes it should always be a fun and friendly organisation. They have members from all different walks of life and through all ages. Whether you are a home gardener, a collector, or even a botanist, everyone is welcome here.
The Society holds monthly meetings where the members have the chance to look at some of the knowledgeable growers' collections, and get their professional, and personal advice. Another benefit of joining is the full-colour journal that they produce. The CSSA's Succulents & Cacti Show is an annual Spring event. Each year they have a wonderful and large display area with decorative and rare plants. They also hold plant competitions as well as the sales of specialised books and plants.
One of the Society's aims is to help with the understanding and appreciation of cacti and succulents worldwide. They do this through education and scientific study and they also encourage conservation through cultivation.
The Cactus and Succulent Society of Australia Inc (CSSA) is the oldest Cactus and Succulent Society in Australia. It was established in Melbourne in 1927. There are some similar societies located throughout Australia, and these are in most capital cities and some country areas.
