On AFL Grand Final night I headed to the Melba Speigeltent to see Neo Radio's Cactus County wild west cabaret at the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Before the show we parked our horses at The Gem Bar in Collingwood and had a Texan barbeque feast. With our Cactus County tickets we could choose our meat, a side and a glass of house wine, pot of tap beer or cider for $ 25.00. If you're a meat eater you will love this place adorned with hanging game hunt and other artifacts of the kill.

Cactus County is live radio comedic reading of cowboy 'Dusty' (Sam Qualtrough) riding his talking horse 'Bacon' to search for a buried ruby, a lost sister, and facing various conquests on the way; 'Texas Tom' his long time enemy and his unrequited love interest Cactus Belle 'Kitty Callaghan' the saloon owner.

This a live radio reading is accompanied by a wild 'honky-tonk' bluegrass band. There are numerous sound props, corny cowboy love songs and enough twists and turns to keep you laughing all night long.

There are great boot scootin' performance's of Sia's Chandelier, with powerful and soaring vocals by 'Kitty Callaghan'(Yvette Hearn), and Lorde's Royals by 'Jesse' (Suzanne Barton) and many other familiar tunes, which kept the audience clapping, stomping and singing along with the performers.

I hope Neo Radio are back soon to keep our toes tappin'.
